|Competition for Solving Optimal Power Flow Problems|
|The Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E) is organizing the first-ever Power Grid Optimization Competition. The competition revolves around solving optimal power flow (OPF), a mathematical optimization problem for finding generation dispatch at the lowest cost while such dispatch satisfies capacity limits and the law of physics governing a power system. ARPA-E’s support team consists of Pacific Northwest National Laboratory, the University of Wisconsin–Madison, and Arizona State University. The team will assist with competition design, execution, evaluation, and transition.|
